Job Summary The ICU Technician provides high-quality, patient-centered support within the Intensive Care Unit by performing delegated clinical and non-clinical tasks under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). This role assists with the delivery of direct patient care, monitors vital signs and basic diagnostic data, and supports ICU operations to ensure a safe, clean, and efficient care environment. The ICU Technician contributes to improved patient outcomes by supporting the critical care team in meeting the unique needs of high-acuity patients. Essential Functions Provides direct and indirect patient care under the supervision of the RN, following care plans and departmental protocols. Obtains and documents patient data, including vital signs, intake and output, and other clinical observations, alerting licensed personnel to abnormalities. Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, grooming, oral care, elimination, nutrition, and mobility support. Supports patient mobility by turning, positioning, transferring, and ambulating patients using proper body mechanics. Collects specimens for diagnostic testing, ensures accurate labeling, and facilitates timely transport to the lab. Assists with admissions, discharges, and patient transfers within or outside the ICU. Maintains a safe and orderly care environment by restocking supplies, cleaning equipment, and reporting maintenance issues. Serves as a monitor technician (Monitor Tech) for the unit, observing telemetry and reporting changes to clinical staff, as needed. Provides emotional support to patients and families, demonstrating empathy and compassion in critical care settings. Performs other duties as assigned. Maintains regular and reliable attendance. Complies with all policies and standards.
