The ICU Night AHUC (Assistant Health Unit Coordinator) assists Registered Nurses with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, activity orders, ambulation, proper positioning, range of motion, and special transferring. This role involves measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, daily weights, and other patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The AHUC participates in the admission, transfer, and discharge processes, ensuring patient comfort and safety by managing call lights and performing purposeful rounding. Key responsibilities also include patient positioning and transport, assisting with nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, collecting specimens, and performing point-of-care testing. The position requires adherence to infection prevention policies and may involve tasks like IV removal, post-mortem care, phlebotomy, ECGs, and bladder scans as allowed by regulations. Administrative duties include coordinating tests and treatments, maintaining knowledge of EHR and computer systems for ordering supplies, processing patient charges, facilitating communications, screening calls, monitoring office equipment, and compiling chart forms. The AHUC must demonstrate age-appropriate patient care knowledge and maintain positive customer relations.
