About The Position

ICU/Hospital Equine Veterinary Technician Hiring for a rotating 12-hour shift, 4 days on 3 days off. 40-50 hours a week, rotating weekends and nights. Everyone rotates through each shift. Hiring beginner, intermediate and advanced level technicians. Job responsibilities would include but not limited to: · Assisting vets in anything they may need for appointments/emergencies · Helping triage emergencies (Colic, lacerations, neurological issues, etc.) · Responsible for daily treatments on in house hospitalized patients; Critical in ICU and noncritical patients. · Helping restrain for endoscopy procedures · Performing physical exams and temperature checks · Monitoring and running fluids on patients · Holding twitches and restraining horses while passing NGT · Placing IV catheters, administering IV and IM injections · Entering bills from emergencies and making treatment plans · Assisting on farm calls · Prepping patients for emergency and elective surgeries · Blood draws and performing lab work · Doctoring wounds, performing breathing treatments, and independently monitoring horses during the day and night shift. · Foaling out Mares · Monitoring mares on foal watch · Experience in any of the following areas would be a tremendous asset, but not required: · Drawing up drop down medications · Running anesthesia Level 3: Advanced Technician (RVT with experience) $50,000-60,000/Year ($22-30/hr) Focus: High-level technical proficiency, specialized skills, and complex case management. Core Skills: · Performing advanced imaging assistance (endoscopy, digital radiography, advanced ultrasound). · Managing critical care cases (foals in NICU, colic cases, post-surgical recovery). · Monitoring and adjusting anesthesia for surgical procedures. · Advanced wound management (skin grafts, drains, complex bandages). · Performing advanced lab diagnostics (blood gas analysis, cytology prep, specialized testing). · Assisting in surgical procedures (sterile prep, instrument handling, surgical monitoring). · Dental technician support (sedated floats, extractions). · Specialized reproductive assistance (breeding, AI, foal resuscitation). · Making treatment sheets with veterinarians orders and ensuring compliance. · Training Level 1 and Level 2 technicians. Team Leader (Advanced Technician + Leadership) $55,000 – 65,000/Year ($25-35/hr) Focus: Clinical expertise + team management and coordination.

Requirements

  • Horse: 3- 5 years (Required)
  • Minimum of three professional references are required with resume.
  • Education: High school or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Veterinary Technician: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Veterinary Assistant: 1 year (Preferred)
  • RVT, LVT, CVT preferred but not required.
  • Accredited Veterinary Technician Program (Preferred)
