Your Opportunity In this position as a Co-op/Summer/Intern Student, you will have the opportunity to work as part of a team of engineers and designers on multiple projects for a range of clients. This is a great opportunity for a motivated, energetic individual who wants to challenge their abilities in a dynamic work environment. The role of a Co-op/Summer/Intern Student is to perform a variety of assignments within the Information & Communications Technology (ICT) engineering discipline under the direct supervision of a Senior Designer or Engineer. Tasks may include preparing drawings and assisting with the design of mechanical systems to support various facility types.

Requirements

  • General interest in construction and, in particular, in electrical/ICT and security systems
  • Great work ethic
  • Strong motivation to learn
  • Excellent task and time management skills
  • Able to process information quickly and accurately
  • Working knowledge of software programs including AutoCAD and Revit
  • Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
  • Must have completed at least second year of Bachelors’ program in Electrical Engineering by start date of Internship.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with and assist ICT Engineers and Designers
  • Interpret architectural, mechanical, electrical, structural and civil plans
  • Perform design work for projects that include but are not limited to telecommunications, electronic security, audiovisual systems, and related technologies
  • Perform design work, including calculations, drawings, specifications, and contract documents for projects in the areas of structured cabling and pathways, intelligent buildings, digital lighting, access control, CCTV, intercoms, public address, power metering, Audio/Video and work with converged networks for smart buildings integration
  • Use AutoCAD and Revit to prepare ICT drawings and details
  • Learn to apply fundamental engineering principles to solve real-world problems
  • Collaborate with and support multi-disciplinary project team(s)
  • Participate in Summer Intern Design Project with interns of other building design disciplines
