About The Position

The Forensic Toxicology Advisor position at Amentum involves providing specialized training and advisory services to foreign forensic laboratories in toxicology. The role focuses on implementing best practices and aligning laboratory work with international accreditation standards, contributing to the U.S. Department of Justice's efforts in combating transnational crime and enhancing human rights in developing countries.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in toxicology or an appropriate discipline of the biological, medical, or veterinary sciences from an accredited college or university.
  • Specialized work experience directly related to the position.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Moderate Public Trust Waiver US Government Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Provides technical guidance on toxicological analyses in biological specimens to determine the cause and manner of death or physiological impairment.
  • Assists in the development of standard operating procedures (SOPs) aligned with best practices for toxicology sections.
  • Supports the development of validation studies for qualitative and quantitative analysis and reviews associated data.
  • Reviews and advises on quality management documents as well as internal audits.
  • Provides training on required maintenance on analytical instrumentation and routine laboratory equipment.
  • Advises on data collection for overall trends in encounters with common drugs of abuse and novel compounds.
