About The Position

The Crime Scene Scientist Advisor position at Amentum involves mentoring and training foreign crime scene scientists in evidence preservation and best practices. This role supports the U.S. Department of Justice's efforts in enhancing crime scene management and aligns practices with international standards. The position is independent contractor-based and requires extensive experience in crime scene operations.

Requirements

• Minimum of 10 years of progressively increasing crime scene experience.
• Bachelor's degree in forensic science, physics, biology, molecular biology, chemistry, or related fields from a recognized institution.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust certification from the U.S. DOJ.

Nice To Haves

• Professional Certification through the International Association for Identification (IAI) or equivalent.
• Experience supervising or managing crime scene activities.
• Demonstrated experience in QA/QC inspections and validation for forensic facilities.
• Continuing education through publications, presentations, coursework, internships, or certifications.
• Language and foreign service skills/experience.
• Experience training or advising foreign officials.
• Clearable: Must be able to obtain and maintain a Public Trust Waiver US Government Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Mentors and trains host-country experts on techniques for evidence collection, preservation, examination, and analysis.
• Trains host-country crime scene leadership on management of crime scenes.
• Facilitates meetings and leads working groups related to crime scene operations.
• Develops reports and specialized papers on crime scene practices.
• Reviews and edits policies, manuals, and Standing Operating Procedures (SOPs).
• Conducts briefings and actively participates in advising officials.
