Oak Leyden has an immediate opening for a caring individual who wants to make a difference by working in our ICILA Residential program for adults with developmental disabilities. The ICILA support staff is responsible for providing activities of daily living and community living skills training and will provide intermittent home support to clients living in their own apartments. Schedule Is: Mondays : 8am to 3pm Saturdays: 9am to 1pm This position is part time (11 hours/week), but may be combined with another part time position to guarantee full-time hours. Ensure personal hygiene on an individual basis to establish daily routines for, but not limited to: (since the clients are required to be independent in these areas the support staff will evaluate/monitor to ensure the client does not need assistance.) oral hygiene, skin care, use of deodorant, lotions and powder, feminine use, disposal and tracking of cycles, ear care, hair care, nail/finger/toe care (ensure client sees podiatrist if needed), proper grooming – different clothes for different occasions. Assist with home cleanliness to establish daily and weekly routines in, but not limited to: personal belongings in bedroom – storage and organization, proper laundry skills – sorting clothes, knowledge of washing cycles, temperatures, including pre-soak/wash, folding, ironing, putting away, regular housekeeping skills such as dusting, sweeping, wet mopping, vacuuming, bathroom and kitchen cleaning, etc. Assist with skills in cooking: planning a balanced daily menu each week, writing a shopping list from the menu, in store shopping economy (choosing appropriate items), food storage – before and after cooking or freezing, food arrangement and table preparation, including condiments. Provide monitoring/instruction in: self administration of medications, use of medical services which includes taking participant to Doctor appointments and ensuring all paperwork is turned into Clinic, use of psychiatric/psychological services which includes taking client to appointments, Money management and budgeting, ensuring client pays rent and bills every month, on time. Assist client with opening and closing bank accounts. Sex education, and assist with signing up for classes as needed. current events home safety communication skills assertiveness training Assist in: linkage to recreational/educational programs, linkage with community events, use of public transportation, independent shopping, independent use of theaters, restaurants, bowling alleys, etc. Attend and participate in staff meetings, participant-focused staffings, participant council meetings, and other events as directed. Assist in the development of Person-Centered Plans (PCP’s) Recommend individual referrals to medical, dental, psychiatric/psychological services.
