About The Position

The Marty Pavelich Ice Rink Attendant is responsible for ensuring the safety of community members during open skate and ice programs. He/She has exceptional communication skills with the public and co-workers, as well as the flexibility to assist with tasks across multiple departments within BSCO. The Rink Attendant is responsible for enforcing the daily schedule and safety of the rink, setup and cleanup of ice programs, managing the warming hut, and helping the maintenance team clear snow on and around the ice rink.

Requirements

  • Must be able to work outdoors in variable weather conditions.
  • The position is very active and requires the employee to often stand, walk, bend, and lift on icy surfaces.
  • Must be able to lift and shovel a minimum of 50 pounds. Occasionally employees must be able to lift up to 100 pounds with the assistance of another team member or mechanical assistance.
  • Must be able to provide two forms of identification and pass a background check.

Nice To Haves

  • Ice skating experience preferred but not required.
  • Ability to work independently in a field and effectively with a team.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively enforce and communicate the rules and schedule of the Marty Pavelich Ice Rink to community members at the rink.
  • Assist the BSCO Maintenance Team with clearing the rink and surrounding walkways of snow and ice to ensure a safe and welcoming environment for the community.
  • Assist the BSCO Programs Team with setup and cleanup of ice programs.
  • Maintain a clean and tidy space in the warming hut as well as making sure doors are locked and unlocked at the appropriate times according to the ice rink schedule.
