The Ice Cream Scientist role at Unilever involves supporting the R&D activities for the Ice Cream Business Unit in North America, which includes a portfolio of well-known brands.   • Support/lead projects by executing agreed R&D activities to deliver the brand's program.
  • Develop products by independently designing against product briefs and executing test protocols.
  • Lead the process of specification and label creation in SAP PLM.
  • Provide technical and product guidance in Supply Chain and Marketing meetings.
  • Assess feasibility of new ideas and troubleshoot formulation issues.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with R&D, Supply Chain, and marketing teams.
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Food Science or equivalent degree.
  • 2-5 years of experience in the food industry, preferably in product development.
  • Ability to independently execute tasks and projects with low-moderate complexity.
  • Working knowledge in use of ingredients, formulation, process, and product design principles.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data with guidance on final conclusions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience with experimental design and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Familiarity with costing and specification creation processes.
