About The Position

Aquatech is a global leader in water purification systems technology for industrial and infrastructure markets located in the United States and internationally. We support our clients with sustainable water purification systems and technologies that are solving the world's water scarcity challenges. We have an immediate need for a Chemical Engineering Intern to work in our Hartland, Wisconsin campus. The laboratory consists of a continuously functioning analytical chemistry lab in addition to a pilot area which consists of several pilot evaporators and crystallizers. The Chemical Engineering Intern will report to the Lab Manager and will perform the duties described in the job description below and will be considered a Non - Exempt employee. The ideal candidate will have safety focus with safe working habits, good communications skills, organization, ability to interpret instructions, and an attention to detail. The candidate will have prior knowledge of analytical chemistry and laboratory experience. The Chemical Engineering Intern will participate in the design and operation of pilot evaporators and crystallizers. The Intern will work closely with engineering to understand the test objectives and ensure that key performance indicators are achieved in the test phase. Intern to work in our Hartland, WI office for the Summer of 2026. The hours are Monday - Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. The Intern will perform the duties described in the job description below and will be considered a non-exempt employee.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a BS degree in Chemical Engineering or related field OR Mechanical aptitude/technical background desired
  • Experience/training in bench top ‘wet’ inorganic chemistry analytical procedures desired
  • Detail oriented, Communicate and receive precise chemical data and procedures
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed lab procedures and safety sheets
  • Experience/familiarity with standard laboratory instruments such as pH and conductivity meters, analytical balances, and microscopes
  • Demonstrate initiative and willingness to learn and grow in responsibility on the job
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Word
  • Ability to work independently, with a minimum of supervision

Responsibilities

  • Participate in the design and assembly of pilot systems
  • Perform operating procedures to run the pilot equipment
  • Operating small industrial equipment such as pumps, heaters, centrifuges, sieve shakers and chillers
  • Ensure a safe working environment
  • Develop process models to analyze data and form conclusions
  • Author laboratory pilot reports
  • Conduct various forms of chemical analysis that are typical in laboratories, including spectrometers such as FAAS and ICP-OES
  • Maintain cleanliness of equipment including glassware used in lab analyses and testing
