About The Position

ICBA Payments is seeking a Vice President - Relationship Manager to help transform a steady 40-year business supporting the nation’s community banks to the future of payments. The Vice President - Relationship Manager, Payments is responsible for the management and support of Payments clients providing a high-level of client account management, fostering satisfaction and client retention. Additional focus includes identifying new business opportunities for Payments and vendor partners. The individual will consult and provide recommendations for client’s short-term and long-term payment strategies and become the “subject-matter-expert” to the bank and internal staff. This position requires the ability to manage these relationships through various channels such as direct calling, in-person visits, webinars, and conference/convention attendance. A key aspect of this position is the development and delivery of customer portfolio analysis and consultation efforts for small to mid-level banks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 12+ years of experience, with 8+ years of business development, account and client management experience preferred.
  • Payment industry knowledge with expertise in Visa/MC credit and debit processing and portfolio management.
  • Strong sales, production, and communication background.
  • Able to precisely manage projects and client relationships as outlined above.
  • Ability to travel regionally and nationally approximately 30%.

Responsibilities

  • Handle all aspects of client-bank relationship management.
  • Build positive and lasting relationships with client banks and vendors.
  • Acquire and maintain a thorough understanding of the client’s business advising on how to expand payment offerings.
  • Provide strategic planning and direction on assigned account(s) and develop/present analysis and solution summaries.
  • Perform portfolio consults with existing clients to help them improve penetration, usage, and activation of their card programs.
  • Aid in the development of clients’ marketing objectives.
  • Recognize and capitalize on opportunities to grow the business, both at the client and Payments levels.
  • Perform a leadership role in preparing and conducting client meetings.
  • Spearhead effort on assigned RFP preparations, delivery and follow-up.
  • Cross sell the full menu of Payment’s products and services.
  • Represent Payments at various vendor conferences and State Association events and conventions.
  • Develop and present payment-industry updates at various venues.
  • Act as a strategic leader within the organization to generate ideas for making the Client Management team stronger and more efficient.
  • Identify and outline strategic payments initiatives for client banks.
  • Work in a proactive manner to provide the client with thought leadership and strategic guidance.
  • Maintain a superior level of knowledge in all aspects of client management.
  • Maintain a superior knowledge of the Payments industry and clearly articulate new products, services and technology-related updates.
