About The Position

The position involves diagnosing and repairing instrument and control system malfunctions, including various electrical systems and equipment. Responsibilities include installing new electrical equipment, performing maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The role requires operating and maintaining a combined cycle power generating facility, performing routine inspections, and supporting the maintenance philosophy through a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). The technician will also be involved in capital projects, maintaining cleanliness, and coordinating work with contractors.

Requirements

  • Instrumentation & Electrical school education preferred.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Understanding of 40CFR Part 75 and Part 60 environmental regulations.
  • Ability to operate a fork lift and similar equipment.
  • Reads, understands, and complies with all regulatory and facility safety procedures.
  • DCS experience is required.
  • More than 10 years' experience in power plants.
  • At least two years' experience in an industrial environment.
  • Five or more years of electrical and/or instrumentation experience in an industrial environment.
  • Experience with Netmation DCS, Foxboro, or Allen Bradley PLCs.
  • Experience with Maximo corrective maintenance management system.
  • Two years of maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
  • Experience with gas and steam turbine control systems is preferred.
  • Experience with CEMS and ESC DAHS systems preferred.
  • Experience with low, medium, and high voltage switchgear and transformers is preferred.
  • Preferred CEMS maintenance/troubleshooting experience.
  • DCS to I/O to field device troubleshooting experience is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree or bachelor's degree in Industrial Electronics, Electronic Instrumentation, or equivalent engineering studies is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnoses and repairs the cause of instrument and control system malfunctions including transmitters, PLCs, and control systems.
  • Installs new electrical equipment as required.
  • Properly uses electrical test equipment and other similar tools.
  • Performs maintenance of equipment by cleaning, adjusting, tightening, and identifying equipment in need of corrective maintenance.
  • Initiates purchase orders and coordinates with outside contractors.
  • Performs 480V and high voltage switchyard electrical systems maintenance.
  • Performs routine generator electrical system tests and inspections.
  • Operates and maintains a combined cycle power generating facility equipment.
  • Reads meters and gauges to record data and verify operating conditions.
  • Keeps LOMT on shift informed of unusual conditions and job progress.
  • Uses facility operating procedures and equipment technical manuals.
  • Supports the use of a CMMS and performs data entry and work order close-out.
  • Starts and stops equipment and opens and closes valves as directed.
  • Visually inspects and maintains equipment.
  • Performs water chemistry analysis on cooling tower and demineralizer systems.
  • Opens and closes circuit breakers for proper system operation.
  • Performs capital project responsibilities as assigned.
  • Maintains cleanliness of all areas of the plant.
  • Coordinates I&C work with contractors.
  • Updates drawings and prints as required.
  • Supports Maintenance Manager in planning and scheduling duties.
  • Performs annual instrument calibrations.
