Opportunity Summary The IC&E Technician / Operations and Maintenance is integral to the reliable operation of turbine control systems, electrical systems, and switchgear, ensuring optimal performance across the plant. This position involves performing preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on GE 7B gas turbines and auxiliary systems, utilizing advanced diagnostic tools like Fluke and Trex instrumentation to troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently. Additionally, the technician will support plant operations, uphold safety standards, and contribute to ongoing improvements through hands-on maintenance, technical expertise, and collaboration with the plant team.

Requirements

  • We are seeking a qualified Instrumentation, Controls, and Electrical (IC&E) Technician with hands-on experience in power generation operations and maintenance.
  • The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical aptitude, a commitment to safety, and a track record of contributing effectively within a team environment to support reliable plant performance.
  • Relevant work experience in the power generation, industrial, or manufacturing sector, specifically in turbine operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of complex mechanical, instrumentation and electrical systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in operating turbine generators and auxiliary equipment, including start-up and shutdown procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with Fluke, PieCal, Trex, Oscilloscopes, and other diagnostic tools for troubleshooting instrumentation systems.
  • Proven ability to inspect, repair, and maintain electrical systems up to 480 volts, including motors, transformers, and MCC buckets.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting ladder logic, PLC diagrams, and troubleshooting control logic systems.
  • Skilled in interpreting P&IDs, F&IDs, blueprints, and wiring diagrams, with the ability to use them effectively in troubleshooting and site walkdowns.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with a proven ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must possess a valid, unrestricted U.S. driver’s license and ensure it remains in good standing at all times.

Nice To Haves

  • An Associate degree in Instrumentation and Control Technology, Electrical Engineering Technology, Electronics Technology, Industrial Automation, or a closely related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Equivalent technical training in industrial electrical systems, control systems, PLCs, or power plant instrumentation—through formal coursework, apprenticeships, or military training—is beneficial.
  • Relevant industry or military experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
  • Familiarity with GE 7B turbines and associated controls is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, analyze, and maintain turbine control systems, auxiliary equipment, electrical circuits, switchgear, motors, MCC buckets, and instrumentation from 24V to 480V.
  • Inspect, repair, install, and remove motors, generators, transformers, switches, wiring, and control equipment.
  • Conduct preventive, corrective, and predictive maintenance on all major electrical systems and plant equipment, including GE 7B gas turbine controls and auxiliary skids.
  • Utilize advanced instrumentation and diagnostic tools, including Fluke 789, Fluke 87, Fluke 725, Trex, PieCal 820/830/850, and oscilloscopes.
  • Read, interpret, and troubleshoot control logic, ladder logic, and PLC diagrams, with a focus on GE 7B gas turbine systems.
  • Apply technical information from electrical drawings, manufacturer data, operating procedures, maintenance guidelines, and Plant Standing Orders.
  • Operate under Control Room Operator (CRO) supervision, assisting with startups, shutdowns, and control of auxiliary equipment.
  • Monitor plant parameters for trends and abnormalities; take corrective actions and report significant issues to the CRO or Plant Manager.
  • Complete logs and reports on flows, pressures, temperatures, and other key parameters; communicate equipment status and operational changes during shift handovers.
  • Maintain plant areas, shop equipment, tools, and grounds in a clean and safe condition.
  • Disassemble, repair, assemble, lubricate, and diagnose small to medium-sized equipment malfunctions.
  • Operate heavy equipment such as forklifts, cranes, man lifts, and machine tools during maintenance tasks.
  • Adhere to all company safety and environmental policies; ensure compliance for employees, contractors, and visitors.
  • Follow proper procedures for handling, controlling, and shipping hazardous and non-hazardous waste streams.
  • Document equipment issues, generate work orders, coordinate contractor activities, and participate in training to support skill development and operational efficiency.
  • Provide shift coverage as needed to maintain plant operational readiness.
  • Support co-workers’ development in job-related areas or career advancement.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned.
