About The Position

Coherent analog Integrated Circuits ASIC group designs physical layer ICs for
high-speed fiber optic data communication and other applications. This group has
delivered over one billion ICs over the past 25 years solving the tough
bandwidth challenges the Data Center, Metro and Long-Haul optical transceiver
markets continuously face.

As a member of the team, you will be responsible for transistor level design of
CMOS and BiCMOS ICs within our design group in Champaign IL, USA.

Coherent is seeking an IC design engineer who will design and layout analog /
mixed-signal circuits for diverse applications such as advanced optical
transceivers and other electro-optical systems.

Requirements

• B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering with three years of work experience, or M.Sc. and/or PhD in Electrical Engineering
• Hands-on experience with the design of wireless and/or wireline communication circuits
• Solid understanding and experience in designing circuits in CMOS and SiGe BICMOS
• Design of RF/analog and mixed-signal systems/architectures and building blocks from concept to transistor-level implementation
• Experience with Cadence IC design tools such as Virtuoso, Spectre, PVS, EMX, Quantus
• Solid understanding and hands-on experience in critical custom integrated circuit layout
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent teamwork skills and strong independence
• Self-motivated with innovative thinking
• Willing to relocate to Champaign IL, USA

Responsibilities

• Participate in the development of best-in-class integrated circuits from concept to production
• Assist in the evaluation of prototype silicon in close collaboration with the application and characterization team
• Support IC qualification and transition to mass production
• Collaborate with corporate cross-functional teams on advanced developments
