As an IBM I RPG Developer, you will be instrumental in developing and maintaining applications on the IBM I platform using RPG programming language. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as an RPG Developer with a focus on IBM i platform, including RPG IV development.
  • RPG Programming: Proficiency in RPG IV (ILE RPG) and familiarity with RPG Free Format programming.
  • IBM i Platform: Solid understanding of IBM i (AS/400) architecture, DB2/400 database, and CL programming.
  • Application Development: Experience in full lifecycle development of RPG applications, from requirements gathering to deployment.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.
  • Communication: Effective verbal and written communication skills to interact with stakeholders at various levels. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality solutions.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to evolving business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in IBM i or RPG programming is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in a transportation environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Application Development: Design, code, test, and debug RPG programs and applications on the IBM i (AS/400) platform. Experience in ILE, SQL, CLLE, CLP, SEU, SDA, DFU, Query, DBU, and Hawkeye Develop new functionalities and enhancements for existing applications based on business needs and technical specifications.
  • System Integration: Integrate RPG applications with other systems and databases, ensuring seamless data flow and compatibility. Collaborate with database administrators and system analysts to optimize performance and reliability.
  • Maintenance and Support: Provide ongoing maintenance, support, and troubleshooting for RPG applications, addressing issues and implementing fixes promptly. Support our internal user community during work hours and participate in the on-call rotation
  • Documentation and Compliance: Create and maintain technical documentation, including program code, system configurations, and user manuals. Ensure adherence to coding standards, best practices, and regulatory requirements in application development.
  • Team Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, business analysts, and end-users to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. Participate in team meetings, code reviews, and knowledge-sharing sessions to foster collaboration and continuous improvement.
