About The Position

The Finance Analyst position within the New York Finance team at Commonwealth Bank is focused on regulatory and financial reporting for the Group's New York Branch. The role involves collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure accurate financial data management and reporting, contributing to the month-end processes, and supporting the overall finance function of the Institutional Banking and Markets division.

Requirements

• Well versed with statutory accounting principles, IFRS and US GAAP.
• IT literacy with sound knowledge and experience of Excel, Word, Access and PowerPoint.
• GL systems and reporting skills.
• Knowledge of SQL, Excel VBA, other coding.
• Business related degree (accounting, commerce, economics, business, finance).
• Knowledge of the Institutional or Investment Banking industry preferred.
• Excellent communication skills and active building of relationships within and across the businesses.
• Good commercial acumen and attention to detail and an ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Key contribution to the month end process, including journal preparation and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Provide in-depth analysis of various expense items.
• Assist with the monthly accounting process for the FINRA registered broker dealer, specifically on revenue streams including USPP, DCM, Fixed Income.
• Preparation of monthly management reports in a timely manner.
• Assist with the preparation of regulatory reporting submissions to the Federal Reserve, FINRA and Group Regulatory Reporting.
• Assisting with the completion of testing across the operational risk framework.
• Assist with audit deliverables to our regulators/auditors including OCC, FINRA, PwC and Internal Audit.
• Review and approval of invoices for accurate ledger posting.
• Participation in ad-hoc Finance projects, testing and system upgrades.
