The DataStage, CDC & HVR Administrator is responsible for administering, maintaining, and optimizing IBM Infosphere DataStage ETL environments, IBM Change Data Capture (CDC), and HVR data replication systems. This role ensures high availability, data integrity, and performance across complex, distributed data integration ecosystems supporting enterprise analytics and operational data flows.

  • Install, configure, and upgrade IBM Infosphere Information Server (DataStage & Web Console).
  • Manage DataStage Engine, Services, and WAS tiers, including cluster operations and high availability (HA) setup.
  • Monitor job performance, resource utilization, and DSODB metrics; analyze logs and address failures.
  • Schedule and automate job execution; manage projects, parameters, and environment variables.
  • Perform routine maintenance, patching, and troubleshooting for DataStage jobs and associated metadata.
  • Maintain and tune DSODB and XMETA databases for performance and space management.
  • Collaborate with developers to migrate jobs between environments (Dev, QA, Prod) using istool or dsx exports.
  • Implement row count, runtime, and performance dashboards using DSODB and Splunk/Prometheus monitoring.
  • Deploy and configure CDC instances for heterogeneous source and target systems (DB2, Oracle, SQL Server, Kafka, etc.).
  • Manage subscriptions, mappings, and replication groups for incremental data capture.
  • Monitor replication latency, throughput, and conflict logs; resolve errors and ensure data consistency.
  • Perform CDC version upgrades, patching, and license renewals.
  • Automate monitoring and alerting for CDC processes via custom scripts or monitoring tools (Grafana/Prometheus/Splunk).
  • Support real-time data ingestion pipelines integrated with DataStage and downstream applications.
  • Install, configure, and maintain HVR components across multiple nodes and environments.
  • Create and manage channels, locations, and tables for replication across on-premises and cloud databases.
  • Troubleshoot replication errors, monitor logs, and validate data integrity across source/target systems.
  • Tune HVR performance parameters for high-volume and low-latency replication.
  • Manage HVR user access, licensing, and encryption settings.
  • Coordinate upgrades and participate in disaster recovery testing.
  • Develop and maintain runbooks and automation scripts for start/stop, monitoring, and backup tasks.
  • Conduct proactive capacity planning and environment health checks.
  • Participate in on-call rotation for production incidents and ensure timely resolution.
  • Integrate monitoring with enterprise observability tools (Grafana, Prometheus, Splunk, or ServiceNow alerts).
  • Maintain documentation for configurations, changes, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Implement role-based access control and audit logging for Infosphere and replication systems.
  • Ensure compliance with enterprise data security and backup policies.
  • Work with DBAs and security teams to validate encryption, SSL, and user authentication configurations.
  • Liaise with offshore admins, IBM support, customers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide timely updates and resolution during incidents and planned activities.
  • Participate in planning meetings and technical reviews.
  • Provide weekend shift coverage as per rotation.
  • Offer pre- and post-on-call support during EST working hours.
