The Active Directory Associate Engineer at Northwestern University is responsible for providing support and expertise in Microsoft Active Directory (AD) architecture and identity integrations. This role involves consultation, testing, documentation, and implementation of various technologies related to AD, Azure AD, and other identity management systems. The engineer will work closely with stakeholders to ensure compliance with security practices and assist in strategic planning for IAM systems.

  • Contribute to Risk Assessment and IAM Evaluations
  • Participate in yearly and roadmap planning of the IAM portfolio
  • Act as IAM point-of-contact for MS team products
  • Serve as Tier 3 support for domain technology issues
  • Perform daily system monitoring and verify the integrity of hardware and server resources
  • Create and maintain system documentation for domain technologies
  • Implement solutions for Active Directory infrastructure
  • Participate in projects for design, development, testing, and implementation of technical solutions
  • Collaborate with other Identity staff for incident remediation
  • Develop IAM MS team expertise through training and professional development
  • 1-3 years of hands-on experience with Active Directory Server (ADS) and Azure AD
  • Knowledge of MS Active Directory services
  • Ability to learn installing, configuring, and upgrading AD
  • Ability to learn scripting in PowerShell and read code
  • Ability to learn problem resolution and Tier 3 troubleshooting
  • Ability to monitor and performance tune Windows operating systems
  • Knowledge of identity management and provisioning
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • Experience in a higher education environment
  • Knowledge of system administration and basic AD server platform knowledge
  • Desire to learn industry skillsets and certifications
