About The Position

The University of South Florida (USF) Institute of Applied Engineering (IAE) provides agile, best-value engineering solutions to enhance the performance and effectiveness of its sponsors, including the Department of Defense; other federal, state, and local agencies; and industry. These solutions include hardware-and-software-based research, advanced technology development, prototypes, and technical services. This position offers employment by the IAE. The IAE is seeking a Report Analyst Intern to support Government Customer projects related to enterprise assessments, data configuration, data visualization, and peer review efforts. This role will involve collecting, organizing, and storing operational data while also developing data visualization methodologies to improve report impact. The intern will gain hands-on experience in business administration, data analysis, and editorial processes within a professional university operations environment. This position provides supervision and direct work related to the USF Institute of Applied Engineering and Government Customers. Because this internship is partially funded by the U.S. Department of Defense and candidates may work with Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI), U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required due to Department of Defense funding and potential access to Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI).
  • Current GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Strong organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and data management tools.
  • Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with supervisors.

Nice To Haves

  • Senior or Graduate Student pursuing a degree in Information Engineering, Data Science, English, Economics, Policy, or Information Systems.
  • Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
  • Knowledge of business process mapping and workflow design.
  • Prior experience in administrative or data-driven roles.
  • Prior experience with editorial support and peer review process.
  • Familiarity with database management and reporting practices.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, organize, and maintain operational and business data.
  • Create data visualization graphics for Final Reporting.
  • Organize customer feedback comment resolution matrix for editorial purposes.
  • Develop and document repeatable processes to support ongoing operations.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide editorial support
