The Lead iSeries Developer will work remotely to support the internal applications development team of a large retailer. This role focuses on enhancing and configuring systems to support the Supply Chain organization and international market expansion. The developer will collaborate with Systems Architects, Product Managers, and Project Managers to implement necessary changes, participate in Scrum meetings, and ensure efficient application functionality and integration.

  • Design, document, develop, test, and support new application functionality and integration of packaged solutions according to technical specifications and delivery timelines.
  • Work with cross-functional team members to develop systems designs.
  • Apply programming principles, standards, and techniques to ensure efficient program logic and data manipulation.
  • Ensure application software packages are installed and function according to specifications, operate efficiently, and are error-free.
  • Maintain technical knowledge of application systems analysis, design, and development, including software package implementation and database concepts.
  • Provide production support and address technical issues for resolution.
  • Make technical recommendations for efficient troubleshooting and issue resolution.
  • Assess alternative software solutions for workability and technical feasibility.
  • Perform feasibility studies to analyze cost/benefit tradeoffs and development timeframes of systems solutions.
  • Identify technical impact of proposed application development/enhancement projects and coordinate with IT colleagues.
  • Communicate project status to project leader and manage interdependencies.
  • Provide on-call and off-hours support for production systems when assigned.
  • 5+ years' experience as an IBM iSeries Developer
  • Retail specific experience
  • Ability to read and understand RPG 4, RPGLE or RPG Free
  • DB2, SQL, CL programming experience
  • Basic understanding of XML to support mapping exercises
  • Basic knowledge of IP (Island Pacific Merchandising system) and Manhattan PKMS XML or JSON
  • Control M (scheduling tool)
  • Documentation experience in Jira and Wiki
