Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician: The Impact You’ll Have On The Organization As an Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and performance of our plant’s process instrumentation and control systems. You will install, configure, troubleshoot, maintain, and document a wide range of instrumentation and electronic equipment that keeps our operations running at their best. You’ll work closely with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams—strengthening plant reliability, supporting continuous improvement, and contributing to a strong safety culture. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Post‑secondary certificate or degree required (experience may be considered in lieu).
  • 2+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment as an electronics, instrumentation, or maintenance/electrical technician required.
  • Strong comprehension, problem‑solving, and mechanical/electrical aptitude.
  • Ability to perform arithmetic quickly and accurately.
  • Strong hand‑eye coordination.
  • Ability to use common computer functions and SAP.
  • Can adapt to changing priorities, handle stress, and take responsibility.
  • Able to influence others, evaluate information, make decisions, and perform repetitive work when needed.
  • Ability to walk, drive, stand, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs unassisted and 100 lbs with assistance.
  • Capable of entering confined spaces and wearing a respirator.

Nice To Haves

  • AS degree in Electronics Technology or Instrumentation preferred.
  • Experience with Allen‑Bradley PLCs and Emerson DeltaV programming/equipment is a plus.
  • low‑voltage (<600VAC) experience and working knowledge of process computer systems and programming.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, schedule, and complete work orders and PM inspections for all I&E equipment.
  • Install, maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot process instrumentation and control systems.
  • Utilize industry-standard test and measurement tools for maintenance and troubleshooting.
  • Enter work documentation and repairs into the SAP maintenance module.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert during root cause analysis (RCA) and process safety management (PSM) activities.
  • Support environmental and safety initiatives and uphold EHS compliance at all times.
  • Provide technical expertise to Maintenance and Engineering teams for maintenance, engineering, and capital projects.
  • Build and maintain equipment files, technical data, and spare parts inventory.
  • Work with vendors to identify parts and ensure accurate procurement.
  • Develop an intimate understanding of plant processes and process variables.
  • Install, configure, and terminate instrumentation and control wiring using schematics, loop diagrams, and P&IDs.
  • Provide as‑built documentation updates for equipment and process drawings.
  • Work closely with the Plant Process Control Engineer on troubleshooting, maintenance activities, and system improvements.
  • Demonstrate excellence in housekeeping, leadership, teamwork, and communication.
  • Continue growing expertise in Basic Process Control Systems (BPCS) and HMI systems.
