The I&C / Telecom LSS Commissioning Engineer is responsible for leading and executing commissioning activities for Telecom, Life Safety Systems (LSS), and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) systems. This role ensures systems are installed, tested, and commissioned in accordance with project requirements, applicable codes, and client standards, supporting safe, reliable, and fully operational facility turnover.

Requirements

Strong understanding of Telecom and Life Safety Systems, including fire alarm, mass notification, access control, CCTV, and structured cabling systems.
Working knowledge of Instrumentation & Controls systems and field instrumentation.
Experience with commissioning processes, system verification, functional testing, and documentation control.
Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, network diagrams, and control schematics.
Familiarity with applicable codes and standards such as NFPA, NEC, TIA/EIA, ISA, IEEE, and local AHJ requirements.
Strong field presence with the ability to perform walkdowns, testing, and issue resolution in active construction environments.
Excellent communication and coordination skills for working with contractors, vendors, AHJs, and client teams.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to track issues, manage documentation, and meet project schedules.
Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance throughout all commissioning activities.
Minimum of 3 years of relevant field experience in Telecom, Life Safety Systems, and/or I&C commissioning OR an equivalent technical degree with applicable experience.
Demonstrated Telecom commissioning experience required.
Proof of education, licenses, and certifications will be required where applicable

Nice To Haves

I&C certification preferred.
Prior I&C field experience highly desired.
Experience in large industrial, data center, or advanced manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

Lead and execute commissioning activities for Telecom, Life Safety Systems (LSS), and I&C systems from pre-functional testing through final acceptance.
Review design documents, specifications, drawings, and submittals to verify systems are installed in accordance with project, client, and code requirements.
Develop, review, and execute commissioning plans, scripts, and procedures for: Fire Alarm and Mass Notification Systems Telecom Systems Access Control and Video Surveillance (CCTV) Structured Cabling and Network Infrastructure BAS/BMS interfaces and field instrumentation
Perform field inspections, system walkdowns, and verification testing to confirm installation completeness and readiness for startup.
Coordinate end-to-end testing activities with contractors, vendors, Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs), and client representatives, including witness testing and final acceptance.
Verify network architecture, addressing, signal flow, grounding, labeling, and redundancy in compliance with applicable standards.
Ensure systems comply with relevant codes and standards including NFPA, NEC, TIA/EIA, ISA, IEEE, and local AHJ requirements.
Document and track deficiencies, punch list items, and commissioning issues, ensuring timely resolution and closure.
Maintain accurate commissioning documentation including test results, redlines, as-built records, and turnover packages.
Support system startup, cutover, and transition to operations to ensure systems are fully functional and operationally ready.
Collaborate with construction, quality, safety, and operations teams to maintain schedule, safety, and quality objectives.
Participate in client meetings, commissioning reviews, and progress reporting, providing clear technical updates and risk mitigation strategies.
