Spectra Tech, Inc. is seeking an experienced Instrumentation and Control (I&C) Engineer to join the US ITER project in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. This role is pivotal in leading the design and development of I&C systems, where you will collaborate closely with Mechanical Engineering, System Engineering, and multi-disciplinary Analysis Teams to ensure that design solutions meet ITER requirements. As an I&C Engineer, you will be responsible for a variety of tasks that include the development of detailed designs, checking and back-checking drawings and documents, and supporting the design of Piping and Instrument Drawings (P&IDs). Your expertise will be crucial in developing panel wiring and interconnect cabling designs, as well as designing panel layouts and performing enclosure cooling calculations. In this position, you will produce control system input/output and instrumentation lists, design power distribution single line diagrams, and develop control strategies and state transition diagrams. You will also be tasked with writing control system hardware descriptions, including control requirements, functional specifications, and control system architecture descriptions. Additionally, you will write control software requirements specifications and control software design descriptions, specify PLC systems, and vacuum gauges and controllers. Your role will involve writing procedures and participating in the qualification of instrumentation for high magnetic field areas, EMI/EMC testing, and gamma and neutron radiation testing. Collaboration with ORNL analysts will be essential to determine the proper magnetic shielding of instrumentation, and you will also be responsible for writing factory acceptance test procedures and statements of work for I&C design and fabrication. The ideal candidate will possess strong verbal and written communication skills, be a self-starter with strong interpersonal skills, and be willing to take a lead role in projects. This position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical, Nuclear, or Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field, along with a minimum of 5 years of I&C engineering design and hands-on experience. Knowledge of I&C engineering and design practices, including drawings, specifications, and codes, is essential. You should also have experience in developing state transition diagrams, electrical load lists, and wiring diagrams, along with excellent communication and organizational skills. A willingness and ability to travel internationally and domestically as required is also necessary.
