About The Position

The Tax Internship is in Houston, Texas and will expose the candidate to essential tax functions, including income tax, sales tax, property tax, forecasting, and compliance. The role will allow the candidate to work on real-world projects alongside members of the tax team and network with other interns and employees throughout the company. The candidate will be expected to complete an independent project and present it to senior management at the end of the summer.

Requirements

  • Strong interest in the oil and gas industry and energy finance.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities without close supervision.
  • Ability to perform tasks and achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and precision.
  • Ability to accurately solve problems and exceptional proficiency in data management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English language proficiency).
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  • Experienced in the use and application of Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Responsibilities

  • Complete an independent project and assist the tax team in its day-to-day operations.
  • Execute compliance functions for sales, income, and property tax.
  • Facilitate interactions between the tax team and operations teams, related to tax information, and planning opportunities.
  • Create and maintain tax models and provide management with cash flow expectations.
  • Assist in generating tax planning opportunities.
  • Monitor tax law changes and incorporate them into tax team compliance.
  • Adhere to the company’s values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.
  • Support company vision and mission.
  • Adhere to established work schedule, attendance standards and be punctual to work and meetings.
  • Maintain employee confidence and protect company assets, including intellectual property, by keeping information confidential.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
