  • Apply state-of-the-art CFD tools to the design and analysis of flight vehicles. Perform basic CAD geometry manipulation, meshing, setting up and running solutions on local and remote Linux-based clusters, and post-processing results into formats suitable for engineering analyses (data sets, plots, images, etc.).
  • Have an understanding of a variety of fluid flow phenomena, including compressibility, turbulence, and heat transfer
  • Perform analyses related to missile launch vehicle systems, re-entry bodies, and satellites using various modeling and simulation methods and analytical techniques
  • Author technical memos and provide recommendations to data packages to support peer and customer reviews, and presenting analysis results to internal engineering teams, customer technical representatives, and Program Office personnel during technical exchange meetings
  • Be willing to work odd hours and overtime on occasion.
  • Educational or Professional work experience in some of the following: thermophysics, heat transfer, aerodynamics, fluid mechanics, and computer programming
  • Experience in modeling, simulation, analysis, or experimentation of high speed aerodynamics
  • Strong mathematical and analytic skills
  • Experience in leading or supervising research activities.
  • This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.
  • Experience or a strong educational background in some/all of the following disciplines: hypersonic aerodynamics, gas dynamics, computational fluid dynamics, and computer programming (C/C++, Matlab, Python).
  • Experience with solvers used by NASA for entry vehicles, e.g. FUN3D, Loci/CHEM,
  • Prior experience developing and analyzing hypersonic thermochemically reacting flow fields.
  • Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal, be self-motivated, and be able and willing to support multiple projects
  • Expertise in using the following software packages for grid generation and CFD similar to: Pointwise, Fluent, ANSA and TecPlot. Experience with Missile configuration design and pre and post flight missile performance analysis.
  • Experience in planning and conducting wind tunnel tests.
  • Master's degree or PhD in aerospace or mechanical engineering
