About The Position

The Hyperbaric Technician (HBO Tech) is a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) who administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Providers. S/he provides treatment with the safe and effective operation of the hyperbaric chamber(s) and related support systems, as well as safe delivery of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to the hyperbaric patient.

Requirements

• Analytical ability to apply criteria and evaluate information to make decisions
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; and excellent interpersonal skills in teaming with patients, medical staff and the public
• Detail oriented with proven ability to multitask
• Professional appearance and ease in developing rapport with others
• Understanding of patient care, medical terminology, coding procedures, reference tools, and appropriate clinical pharmacology for medical assistant scope
• Knowledgeable in policies, regulations and procedures to administer patient care
• Knowledgeable of HBO medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
• Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment
• Knowledgeable with Microsoft Office programs including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; familiar with electronic medical health care record systems
• Ability to maintain quality control standards
• Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations
• Detail oriented with proven ability to multitask
• Graduate of an accredited Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) program, required
• HBO certification, required
• Current LPN licensure with the State of Kansas, required
• BLS, required

Nice To Haves

• 1-2 years' experience in a healthcare setting, preferred

Responsibilities

• Obtain and record patient medical histories, vitals, test results and other information for medical records
• Deliver compassionate support, attention and assistance to patients and families
• Ensure compliance with all health care regulations, including HIPAA and OSHA
• Monitor patients throughout their treatment
• Perform routine checks of patients' vital signs
• Assure proper and safe operation of hyperbaric chambers
• Assure proper recording of necessary data, cleaning and care for equipment
• Maintain confidentiality of all information according to HIPAA and company policy
• The Hyperbaric Technician (HBO Tech) (LPN) assumes other responsibilities as assigned.
