The Hygiene Assistant position at Dental Depot involves providing essential support to the Hygienist and ensuring a smooth workflow in the dental hygiene department. The primary responsibilities include preparing patients for hygiene treatments, sterilizing and disinfecting instruments, and setting up instrument trays. The Hygiene Assistant will also assist during dental procedures, record treatment information in patient records, and expose dental diagnostic x-rays while adhering to care guidelines. This role requires a proactive approach to patient care, including coronal polishing of teeth, taking and recording medical and dental histories, and managing medical or dental emergencies as they arise. In addition to direct patient care, the Hygiene Assistant is responsible for ordering and monitoring dental supplies and equipment inventory for the hygiene department. Scheduling appointments and following up with patients on missed appointments are also key functions of this role. The position may require relocation to other Dental Depot clinics based on office needs, and adherence to company policies, OSHA regulations, and HIPAA guidelines is mandatory. The Hygiene Assistant may also be tasked with completing administrative and maintenance duties as assigned by management, emphasizing the importance of regular and reliable attendance in this role.
