Job Description: Position Summary The Hydrovac Operator is responsible for operating Hydrovac trucks to safely and efficiently excavate soil and expose underground utilities using high-pressure water and vacuum systems. This role supports field operations by using pressurized water and a vacuum system to expose underground utilities and structures, ensuring safety and minimal disruption. The position works closely with project teams and reports to the department manager.

Requirements

Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with vacuum excavation equipment
Good manual dexterity to operate machinery with precision
Ability to stoop, kneel, crouch, and lift objects up to 50 pounds
Ability to work outdoors in a variety of weather conditions
Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow detailed instructions
High school diploma or equivalent
Valid Class A or B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with air brake & tanker endorsement
Clean driving record

Nice To Haves

Experience in construction or excavation is preferred

Responsibilities

Operate Hydrovac truck and equipment to perform non-destructive excavation and utility locating
Safely daylight around underground utilities in accordance with OSHA and company safety standards
Operate Trimble and GPS equipment to record utilities as necessary
Locate utilities with a locator wand utilizing tracer wires and other conductive materials in the ground.
Locate utilities with GPR scanning equipment as required.
Perform pre- and post-trip inspections and routine maintenance of equipment
Complete required logs and reports to document work performed and site conditions
Maintain a clean and organized vehicle and work area
Communicate with site supervisors, team members, and vendors to coordinate tasks
Participate in job hazard analysis (JHA), site-specific safety plans, and morning action planning (MAP)
Other duties as assigned
