About The Position

A Hydrovac Operator safely drives and operates specialized high-pressure water and vacuum excavation trucks to expose underground utilities, perform potholing, and trenching without damage to infrastructure. Key responsibilities include site safety compliance, routine truck maintenance, and material disposal. Valid Class A or B CDL and strong safety focus are required.

Requirements

• License: Valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class A or B.
• Experience: Previous experience in hydro excavation, heavy equipment operation, or vacuum truck operation is generally required.
• Safety Certifications: OSHA 10, First Aid/CPR, and fall protection certifications are often required.
• Physical Demands: Ability to work outdoors in varying conditions; lift/carry typical field loads (often up to 50 lbs) and perform physically demanding tasks.

Responsibilities

• Safe Excavation: Operate hydrovac systems to perform daylighting, potholing, trenching, and debris removal.
• Equipment Maintenance: Perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections, troubleshoot, and maintain high-pressure water and vacuum systems.
• Site Safety: Establish a safe work area, identify hidden utilities, and adhere to OSHA safety standards.
• Documentation & Compliance: Complete daily logs, waste disposal documentation, and comply with DOT regulations.
• Utility Protection: Use non-destructive, precision digging methods to prevent damage to electrical, gas, or water lines.
