Opportunity Overview: Location: Minneapolis, MN or Eau Claire, WI Travel: 20–30% (summer/fall) Work Arrangement: On‑site As a Project Engineer supporting our Renewables Hydro team, you will meaningfully contribute to designing, planning, and delivering capital projects across our hydroelectric facilities in Minnesota and Wisconsin. You'll apply core engineering principles across mechanical, electrical controls, and/or civil/structural disciplines to ensure safe, reliable, and cost‑effective project outcomes. Your work will directly support the long‑term performance of 25 hydro plants—leading technical design efforts, overseeing project execution, and collaborating with plant management, contractors, and cross‑functional teams. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy field work, project ownership, and seeing their designs turn into real‑world solutions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical Controls, or Civil/Structural Engineering from an ABET‑accredited university.
  • Minimum 2 years of engineering experience (hydro or industrial).
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Experience with SAP (work management), Primavera P6 or MS Project, and Bluebeam.

Nice To Haves

  • Hydro industry familiarity (6+ months) is a bonus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop engineering design packages, specifications, and bid documents.
  • Create models, simulations, and prototypes to validate concepts.
  • Apply engineering principles to evaluate safety, cost, reliability, and constructability.
  • Support permitting, materials selection, and readiness reviews.
  • Visit hydro facilities to scope future projects and support active construction.
  • Communicate with site leadership to align project work with plant operations.
  • Monitor installation quality, safety, and adherence to design specifications.
  • Troubleshoot issues and resolve technical challenges in real time.
  • Coordinate project schedules, budgets, contractors, and deliverables.
  • Use SAP and scheduling tools (Primavera P6 or MS Project) to track progress.
  • Lead kickoff meetings, provide status updates, and manage documentation through closeout.
  • Investigate root‑cause issues and implement corrective actions.
