About The Position

Reporting to the Manager- Projects and Operational Excellence, the Hydrologist is a salary exempt role that typically works a 4-3 schedule. The Hydrologist is responsible for overall water management at SSR Mining's Marigold Mine. Duties include but are not limited to short-term and long-term planning of dewatering activities, budgeting, equipment selection, permitting, and hydrogeologic monitoring/evaluation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in hydrology/geology/geological engineering, civil engineering, geotechnical or related field required or demonstrated operational experience in lieu of formal education.
  • Four years of related experience preferred.
  • Previous experience in an Open Pit mine environment preferred.
  • Familiarity with drill rigs, installation of hydrogeology instrumentation preferred.
  • Familiarity with water rights preferred.
  • Exposure to business planning (budgeting, AFE Development, cost forecasting).
  • Valid driver's license.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with Power BI, SharePoint, and KPI Fire preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example, in all of Marigold's safety processes, ensuring safe practices are utilized while performing work.
  • Develop Annual Dewatering Field Expansion plans in support of SSRM business planning calendars. Support monitoring of project cost performance throughout the year.
  • Develop data supporting creation of annual AFE submission. Create business cases and conduct trade-off studies in support of necessary expansion projects.
  • Assist in hydrologic evaluation, dewatering design, and selecting drill/well locations as needed.
  • Collect, analyze, and communicate groundwater monitoring data to site and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare and present monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting (pumpage, water balance, groundwater level, etc.) in alignment with regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare and present memos and reports interpreting findings of data collection and evaluation, model updates and provide guidance and recommendations.
  • Regular communication and coordination with site technical teams in support of long-term dewatering needs. Key relationships include Mine Planning, Environmental, and Process teams.
  • Inspect and manage personnel conducting project field work including drilling contractors, site projects personnel, and electrical/instrumentation contractors.
  • Act as primary point of contact and lead coordinator for all hydrology related consultants and contractors.
  • Develop and maintain positive and effective professional working relationships with vendors and co-workers.
  • Regular field work in support of dewatering and hydrology functions at Marigold. May include instrumentation/telemetry installation and troubleshooting, recovery of monitoring points after mining activity, and manual reading of installed instrumentation.
  • Prepare and submit required State of Nevada permits and waivers.
  • Manage Marigold Mine, Trenton Canyon Mine and Buffalo Valley Mine water rights and long-term strategy.
  • Other duties as assigned.
