About The Position

The Hydrologic Modeler (Engineer Scientist I or II) position involves performing hydrologic modeling and data analysis to support various aspects of water resources management, including flood protection, water quality improvements, environmental restoration, and minimum flows and levels assessment. The role requires working under the supervision of a professional engineer or an engineer scientist, conducting model simulations using existing surface water models, evaluating model results, and developing model data sets. Additionally, the position involves utilizing ArcGIS for developing figures and data necessary for model development, performing statistical analysis of hydrologic data, and contributing to the development of project reports and presentations.

Requirements

  • For Engineer Scientist I: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in geology, hydrology, environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering, or related field.
  • For Engineer Scientist II: Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in the same fields and one year of professional experience in the relevant fields.
  • A master's degree in the relevant fields can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Professional experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Responsibilities

  • Perform model simulations using existing surface water models to generate water quantity and water quality results.
  • Evaluate model results and develop model data sets.
  • Utilize ArcGIS to develop figures and data as necessary for model development.
  • Perform statistical analysis of hydrologic data, including stream discharge and water quality data frequency analysis.
  • Develop flow duration curves and conduct regression and trend analysis.
  • Contribute to the development of project reports and presentations.
