About The Position

AECOM's Transportation business line has a position available in Piscataway or Bloomfield, NJ for a Hydrologic Engineer. In this role the selected candidate will be working on projects associated with New Jersey Transportation projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in civil engineering, regulatory compliance, and conflict resolution with NJTA and NJDOT clients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Hydrologic, Hydraulic, and/or Water Resources Engineering or related degree plus 4 years of direct experience working on hydrologic and hydraulic aspects of civil works projects or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in the State of NJ, or ability to obtain NJ PE within 12months of employment.
  • Due to the nature of work, this position requires U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Resident status.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Science or Master of Engineering degree in Civil Engineering with emphasis in Hydrologic, Hydraulic, and/or Water Resources Engineering
  • NJ PE.
  • Experience developing design documents related to hydraulic structures including drawings and plans, specifications, and basis of design reports
  • Experience with hydraulic inspection of bridges and preparing inspection reports.
  • Experience with scour analysis and design of revetment measures.
  • Experience with developing emergency action plans as well as planning and facilitating exercises of those plans.
  • Experience performing risk assessments and Potential Failure Mode Analyses (PFMAs) related to dam design, construction, and operation.
  • Experience and ability with the following software applications: HEC-HMS, HEC-MetVUE, NRCS SITES, ESRI ArcMap or ArcPro (preferred) , AutoDesk AutoCAD Civil 3D, MS Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct bridge engineering activities such as visual inspections, risk analyses, and emergency action planning.
  • Prepare technical reports, construction drawings, and supporting calculations while adhering to AECOM's Quality Management System.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams, clients, and stakeholders to ensure project success.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Support business development efforts, including proposal development and client relationship management.
  • Stay current with industry trends and contribute to innovative solutions in hydrologic and hydraulic engineering.
  • Develop Hydraulics Reports satisfying NJDOT and NJDEP requirements.
  • Conduct hydrologic and hydraulic modeling and simulations using industry-standard software and methodologies to support design and analysis activities.
  • Perform site assessments, field investigations, and data collection to inform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses.
  • Coordinate with regulatory agencies and stakeholders to ensure compliance with applicable environmental and transportation regulations.
  • Participate in quality assurance and quality control reviews to maintain project standards and deliverable accuracy.
  • Travel for field work, client meetings, and professional conferences as required.
