About The Position

The Port of Portland is a gateway to the globe with our three airports, four marine terminals, and five business parks, the Port of Portland is an economic engine for transforming this region into a place where everyone is welcome, empowered, and connected to the opportunity to find a good job or grow their business. We are seeking an individual to be responsible for performing hydrographic survey work/direction related to the Port of Portland's Dredge 'Oregon' operations in accordance with the United States Army Corps of Engineers (Portland District) contract along the Columbia River between Astoria and Portland. Act as backup for water quality on the Dredge Oregon. Manage and archive all hydrographic survey files for future use and liability. Determine appropriate approach, equipment usage, and procedures for each dredging project. Operate DGPS, GPS surveying instruments, terrestrial total station, and electronic levels to accomplish the collection of field measurements for hydrographic surveys and upland disposal site surveys. Process field measurements into X, Y, Z positions with point descriptions when necessary, utilizing Hypack, TBC, and AutoCad and provide data in appropriate format for the use of the United States Army Corps of Engineers, Dredge Oregon personnel and stakeholders. Review the work of others and provide professional opinion/direction when necessary. Provide field/office support for the Port survey department during the off-dredging season.
