HYDROGRAPHIC SURVEY INTERN: This internship is an opportunity for students to be able to work during Summer 2026. YOUR DAY-TO-DAY WILL INCLUDE: Responsible for assisting the Crew Chief in the operation of a field survey crew. Major objectives are the quality (accuracy, thoroughness, meets regulatory requirements, public relations) of work, safety, and maintenance of equipment. Operate survey equipment, maintain a safe work environment, protect, and maintain the equipment and vehicles and accurately and efficiently collect field data and locate features. Acquire multibeam, single beam, side scan, and magnetometer data. Collect data using Trimble GPS equipment. Travel. Potentially long hours of field work. Safe small vessel operations. Basic boat maintenance.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in a four-year surveying or engineering college program preferred, or two-year surveying associates degree.
  • Must meet academic requirements set by the University to participate in an internship.
  • Must have good technical skills.
  • Must possess behavioral traits of process oriented, steady, helpful, analytical, problem solver, likes working alone when required, methodical, consistent, detail oriented and precise.
  • Must have experience in previous jobs working outside on a regular basis preferably in extreme conditions.
  • Must have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record and a negative drug test.
  • Individual must not be susceptible to seasickness.
