Position Overview: Woolpert is hiring Maritime Hydrographic Survey Interns to join our dynamic Geospatial teams at one of our many office locations in Houston TX, Charleston SC, Port Orchard WA, Wasilla AK, and San Rafael CA. This position reports to the Geospatial Team Leader and is responsible for supporting our Geospatial teams with Surveying and Data Processing. This is a full-time, 40 hours per week, paid internship for Summer 2026. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.

  • A general understanding of hydrographic surveys
  • Physical ability and willingness to work on 20 to 70ft vessels in coastal environments
  • Depending on intern placement, willing and able to spend up to 2-3 weeks in the field for data collection while also completing rotations in an office to support processing
  • A proactive attitude towards learning and using new software tools

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the acquisition and processing of hydrographic and geophysical data in support of government organizations and private sector clients for services such as nautical charting, dredging, marine construction, cable route mapping, pipeline inspection, and more.
  • Engaging in data quality checks and preliminary analysis
  • Learning and applying various hydrographic software tools and methodologies
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of data management strategies
  • Supporting the team in ensuring data accuracy and integrity
  • Intern responsibilities vary based on team placement within each department geographically
