Your Opportunity Stantec is seeking a part-time geologist/hydrogeologist/engineer Intern to support our team of groundwater and environmental professionals. The position will assist in the completion of project level work to support environmental due diligence, remediation and water resource projects. Primary responsibilities will be related to performing key tasks to support groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling, hydrogeologic investigations, model conceptualization, remediation system evaluation, remedial design and maintenance, and statistical analysis of geologic and groundwater chemistry data. Additional responsibilities will include supporting technical environmental reports. This position is scheduled for 20 hours per week, with the possibility of additional hours based on workload and business needs.

Requirements

  • Exhibits strong attention to detail.
  • Strong technical aptitude and a willingness to learn new software programs.
  • Strong organizational and communications skills (ability to communicate in writing, verbally and graphically).
  • A working knowledge of ESRI ArcGIS Pro, Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have a valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
  • Working towards BS/MS degree in geology, hydrogeology, environmental engineering, geological engineering, geochemistry, or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Compile and manage field data to be used in project work.
  • Assist with data analysis and data visualization using ESRI ArcGIS Pro.
  • Assist with analyzing and interpreting environmental and groundwater data.
  • Assist in geologic and hydrogeologic research.
  • Collaborate with other scientific and engineering professionals within the practice.
  • Assist in technical report writing, including Phase I ESAs.
  • Compile data to use in groundwater flow and contaminant transport modeling.
  • Assist in preparing soil boring log and well construction diagrams.
