The Geologist/Hydrogeologist will evaluate uncontrolled and unregulated hazardous waste sites to determine the nature and extent of contamination and potential for imminent hazards to public health and the environment. Using hydrogeological decision making and interpretation expertise, this position will direct cleanup of these sites (whether the cleanup is by voluntary parties or enforcement of responsible parties) or will plan limited work to identify and abate imminent hazards through state-funded contracts for the sites that are considered orphaned. The position will serve as a liaison for the program to municipalities, environmental consulting firms, the public, interest groups, organizations, and the Division. This position is located within the inactive Hazardous Sites Branch within the Superfund Section of the Division of Waste Management.
