About The Position

This is advanced level engineering work designing, evaluating, and implementing groundwater flow models, developing calibration criteria, performing calibration and quantifying modeling results.

Requirements

• A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in environmental, civil, hydraulic, agricultural or water resource engineering.
• Six years of experience directly related to the field in which the position is assigned.
• An advanced degree may substitute for a portion of the required experience.
• Professional experience can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Responsibilities

• Performs MODFLOW groundwater modeling and may serve as a project lead for the assigned projects.
• Utilizes numerical groundwater models to support other programs including water supply planning, water use permitting, and minimum flows and levels.
• Collaborates with staff on refinements and development of regional groundwater models.
• Prepares written documentation of simulation results and presents those results to project team members and clients.
• Mentors staff in the use and application of modeling tools.
• Attends training classes, seminars, and reviews current literature to stay abreast of the advances in the science of hydrology and hydrogeology.
• Provides guidance to other hydrologists in area of special knowledge and expertise.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
