We don’t just talk about diversity; we seek it, embrace it and live it — for the benefit of our staff, our communities and our environment. We are the Environment Agency. We create better places for people, wildlife and the environment. We regulate to prevent pollution, tackle the climate emergency, and protect the quality of our air, land and water. We work with businesses to support compliance and enable sustainable and responsible growth, and we are committed to building an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve. We are recruiting two Technical Advisors — one specialising in hydrogen and one in carbon capture — to join our expanding Hydrogen, Carbon Capture, Utilisation and Storage (HCCUS) team within the Environment & Business directorate. This high‑profile programme plays a vital role in supporting the UK’s transition to net zero. As emerging technologies evolve, we need people who can understand the environmental implications, identify regulatory challenges, and help shape how we oversee these transformative sectors. You will help design how we regulate hydrogen and carbon capture technologies across the EA. You will work closely with senior advisors and sector leads, contribute to policy and guidance, and engage with government, industry and academic partners. Your work will ensure environmental risks are understood and appropriately managed, while supporting the safe and responsible development of low‑carbon technologies.
