About the position

A Hydro Maintenance Mechanic 2 assists in ensuring continuous generation availability and regulatory compliance by operating, inspecting and maintaining hydro turbines, generators, buildings and grounds, dams and auxiliary equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure safe work methods
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on electrical and mechanical equipment
  • Operate hydro-electric facilities safely and efficiently
  • Maintain plant systems, equipment, and surrounding area in clean, safe and efficient condition
  • Complete necessary documents
  • Conduct inspections of turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment
  • Participate in major overhauls of turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment
  • Assist in installing changes to plant equipment
  • Maintain hydro turbine and plant buildings and grounds in clean, safe condition
  • Perform required maintenance on dams and dikes
  • Participate in training programs to advance knowledge and skill level
  • Assist and work with vendors and contractors in installation and repair of equipment and systems
  • Provide relief for other positions as required and work without assistance in job areas where sufficient knowledge and training are present

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 years industrial mechanical maintenance experience as a mechanic
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Valid CDL or ability to obtain one within 18 months
  • Must be able to obtain forklift and lift truck certification
  • This position has a 60 minute residency requirement
