About The Position

Supervises shop employees in a manufacturing environment. Implements lean manufacturing methodologies throughout their area. Plans and assigns work to employees. Implements policies and procedures. Recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions. Mentors and develops employees.

Requirements

  • Five+ years of related supervisory experience within a fast-paced manufacturing environment (automotive preferred.)
  • Experience using ERP (SAP preferred)
  • Knowledgeable and proven ability to work within Excel, Outlook, Word
  • Ability to operate any other software required within the department
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable talking in small and large groups
  • Leadership: a demonstrated strong ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Planning: an ability to think ahead and plan over a 30-day time span and prepare action plans to achieve results.
  • Supervision, including employee hiring and retention, performance review and discipline.
  • Proven track record in employee management and conflict management
  • Employee training and development.
  • Measurement of performance to goals and standards.
  • Ability to present effectively in front of small groups.
  • Ability to justify investments by detailing a return on investment.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure a safe working environment for all employees and ensure employees are following safety protocols at all times
  • Active role and permanent position on the safety committee, complete corrective actions and conduct monthly trainings on time
  • Keep JHA documents up to date with identified risks and required PPE
  • Daily communication touching on any open safety topics including recordables and near misses.
  • Track part rejections
  • Perform investigations and implement corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence
  • Review and analyze processes and procedures to identify risks of poor quality
  • Develop new written procedures where a current procedure doesn't exist or is ineffective at reducing poor quality
  • Develop quality gates to prevent poor quality from making it to the internal or external customer
  • Understand internal and external customer expectations and develop a process and procedures to meet expectations
  • Keep clear and open communication with customers
  • Set daily/ weekly/ monthly targets for production lines
  • Is responsible for all other duties as assigned
  • Monitor/Track/Report progress of KPIs for all employees to the individuals and management, identify gaps and solution's
  • Create growth plans for employees where applicable
  • Enforce process and procedures
  • Document when employees fail to follow process and procedures
  • Ensure employee development and discipline is consistent with company standards driving consistency and high expectations.
  • Provide feedback to and supports onboarding for all new hires
  • Full understanding of inventory transactions and how their department affects accuracy. Implement written procedures to insure their departments advance inventory accuracy
  • Full understanding of revenue and gross margin targets and how their department contributes – owning targets and action plans meeting targets.
  • Implement and document 5S within the department
  • Hold department to company standard for cleaning
  • Stepping into production and supporting to eliminate bottlenecks
  • Meet customer deadlines
  • Meet department efficiency targets
  • Other duties as assigned
