About The Position

The Hydraulic Technician position is responsible for the assembly, testing, and maintenance of hydraulic power units and components. This role requires a strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot hydraulic systems, ensuring efficient operation and minimal downtime. The position reports functionally to the Production Manager and involves working in a shop environment with some outdoor tasks.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent; Preferred: Trade school or other certifications.
  • 0-1 years of experience as Hydraulic Technician with 2-5 years of mechanical assembly and/or repair experience for Trainee level.
  • 1+ years' experience as Hydraulic Technician with IFPS C&C Certification for Tech 1 level.
  • 2+ years' experience as Hydraulic Technician with IFPS IHM Certification for Tech 2 level.
  • 3+ years' experience as Hydraulic Technician with IFPS IHT Certification for Tech 3/Senior level.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a hydraulic mechanic.

Responsibilities

  • Assist/perform the assembly process and testing of hydraulic power units, lube systems, and components as per the job traveler, procedures, drawings, and verbal instructions.
  • Teardown and inspect hydraulic and pneumatic components, including cylinders, pumps, valves, motors, accumulators, and hoses while maintaining an organized and clean work area.
  • Perform fluid and filter exchanges as needed based on oil sample analysis.
  • Produce failure analysis and source hydraulic parts from OEM and aftermarket sources.
  • Demonstrate the use of common hand tools and hydraulic testing equipment.
  • Diagnose hydraulic system malfunctions using various diagnostic tools and techniques, including electrical/hydraulic problems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on hydraulic systems to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Work from drawings, sketches, wiring diagrams, machine operation and maintenance manuals, work order requests, and oral instructions to install, adjust, repair, and perform assigned maintenance duties.
  • Periodically inspect conditions of plant operating machines and equipment for preventative maintenance purposes.
  • Inspect and perform routine equipment care on all shop machinery, mobile equipment, and cranes.
  • Maintain specified records of work performed, details of repairs, and material usage.
  • Troubleshoot basic electrical circuits as they pertain to hydraulic controls.
  • Provide technical support, as necessary, to all departments and customers.
  • Work with Job coordinators and Shop Foreman to support the efficient and accurate quoting and billing of repair & service work.
  • Assist in the development, review, and maintenance of processes, procedures, and guidelines.
