About The Position

As a Hydraulic Modeler, you’ll support municipal utility clients by developing and analyzing hydrologic and hydraulic models that inform the design and optimization of critical water, wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure, specifically pressure pipe, and drinking water systems. You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, planners, and GIS specialists to evaluate system capacity, identify deficiencies, and guide rehabilitation or expansion strategies. Your work will play a vital role in ensuring resilient, efficient, and regulatory-compliant utility systems that serve growing communities across the U.S What You'll Do: Develop, calibrate, and maintain hydraulic and hydrologic models for water distribution, sanitary sewer, and stormwater systems using software such as SWMM, EPASWMM, EPANET, InfoWater Pro, InfoWorks ICM, InfoSWMM, WaterCAD/GEMs, SewerCAD/GEMS or MIKE+ software . Analyze system performance under existing and future conditions to support master planning, capital improvement planning, and asset management. Support municipal utility projects by identifying bottlenecks, overflows, infiltration/inflow (I/I) issues, and flood risk areas through dynamic modeling. Prepare clear technical documentation, model summaries, maps, and visualizations to support internal teams and client presentations. Assist in field data collection and site visits to support model calibration, including flow monitoring and utility hole inspections. Extract and process GIS data, survey files, and utility records to build and update system models. Collaborate with engineers and project managers to integrate modeling results into design documents, reports, and permit applications. Participate in the development of stormwater management plans, sanitary sewer evaluations, and water distribution system assessments. Ensure modeling efforts meet local, state, and federal regulatory requirements (EPA, FEMA, state DEPs) Contribute to QA/QC processes to ensure data integrity, model accuracy, and consistency across deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Environmental Engineering, or related field (master’s degree a plus)
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in hydraulic and hydrologic modeling for municipal utility systems.
  • EIT certification required; PE license or ability to obtain within 12-24 months preferred.
  • Proficiency in modeling software such as SWMM, EPASWMM, EPANET, InfoWater Pro, InfoWorks ICM, InfoSWMM, WaterCAD/GEMs, SewerCAD/GEMS or MIKE+.
  • Strong GIS skills (ArcGIS, QGIS) and experience using spatial data to support modeling tasks.
  • Familiarity with U.S. municipal utility systems, infrastructure design standards, and regulatory frameworks (EPA, FEMA, Clean Water Act, etc.)
  • This office job primarily operates in a professional office environment and routinely requires the use of standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and copy machines.
