POSITION SUMMARY: Performs routine work involving regulating and controlling smooth operation of the hydrator; perform constant visual checks of equipment/work area and report any potential hazards, unsafe conditions or operating issues; assist in resolving any operating issues; routinely preparing/analyzing manufactured products for quality assurance. Loading and billing (check in/check out) of bulk and bagged product trucks.

Requirements

  • Industrial background with good troubleshooting skills.
  • Knowledgeable of current environmental regulations and practices as they relate to the lime industry.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations is required.
  • Must be able to work shift work, seven days a week including holidays and be flexible to schedule changes, including overtime.
  • Must have a telephone and be open to call-outs.
  • Effectively communicate and interact with supervisors, managers, and peers.
  • Must be physically able to perform work assigned.
  • Must be physically capable of accessing all plant locations.
  • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 150 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels.
  • Will be working at times in covered environment but mainly in a lime/mineral environment.
  • The employee will be exposed to the following working conditions: Extreme Heat and Cold, Noise, Vibration, Oils, and Atmospheric Conditions such as Dust, Fumes, and Lime/Mineral Particles.
  • The employee will be required to perform the following actions (from time to time): Standing, walking, balancing, stooping, kneeling, reaching, talking, seeing, hearing and sitting.
  • Ability to lift/carry 50 pounds.
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Previous operator experience up to 2 years or equivalent related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience operating heavy equipment is desired.
  • Demonstrate the ability to operate a computer preferred.
  • Previous experience operating hydrators preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Must comply with company, state and governmental health and safety regulations policies and procedures at all times.
  • Inspect equipment for any mechanical and/or safety problems per shift and report to Terminal Manager or Supervisor.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of system and components related to the hydrator, and conduct quality control tests to ensure the quality of product being manufactured is in compliance.
  • Monitor operating controls and react to ensure the Hydrator operates in the most efficient manner.
  • Ensure product is produced to quality standards.
  • Assist maintenance with preventative care and minor repairs of the hydrator equipment.
  • Perform related work and clean-up duties as assigned.
  • Keep all work areas clean and orderly.
  • Ensure a SQF workplace and in regulatory compliance with Federal FDA – Food Modernization Safety Act (CFR Code of Federal Regulations Title 21, , Part 507).
  • Support Environmental Health and Safety, as well as SQF initiatives and awareness programs.
  • Be a leader and promoter of employee safety and SQF culture.
  • Ensure employees have a clear understanding of expected safety and SQF performance and the required training.
  • Ensure proper training programs are implemented for new employees and continued for existing employees.
  • Actively participate in audits for regulatory, safety, SQF and environmental compliance at the site.
