About The Position

The Student Affairs Outreach Coordinator at the School of Public Health (SPH) at West Virginia University (WVU) is responsible for managing outreach activities focused on student and alumni engagement, diversity, and recruitment. This role supports the Office of Academic and Student Affairs in implementing strategic plans aimed at enhancing diversity and engagement within the student body. The coordinator will collaborate with various stakeholders, including faculty and administration, to align outreach efforts with the university's goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public health, public relations, or related field.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in prospective undergraduate student outreach and student prospect development.
  • Experience working with students, teachers, and educational professionals at both high school and college/university levels.
  • Familiarity with student affairs in an academic setting.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in event planning and execution.
  • Knowledge of databases and web-based software tools for handling confidential student information.
  • Proficiency in preparing technical reports and presentations.

Responsibilities

  • Initiate and manage outreach activities focused on student and alumni engagement and diversity.
  • Partner with the SPH Director of Undergraduate Studies and the Director of Admissions and Recruitment to align outreach efforts with recruitment and retention activities.
  • Coordinate K-12 outreach to create enrollment pipelines through events and advertising.
  • Develop and administer multiple outreach activities consistent with WVU initiatives and strategic plans.
  • Manage student and alumni outreach efforts, engaging with prospective and current students as well as alumni.
  • Build strategic relationships within WVU and the community to enhance outreach initiatives.
  • Coordinate financial aid, scholarships, and funding under the supervision of the Assistant Dean for Student Affairs.
  • Support New Student Orientation (NSO) and retention events.
  • Monitor trends in alumni success and engage alumni in SPH events.
