About The Position

The Hybrid Medical Assistant / Front Desk Receptionist is an essential member of the care team who provides both clinical support to providers and administrative support at the front desk. This dual role ensures continuity and efficiency in patient care and front office operations.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Graduate of a formal Medical Assistant training program (at least 12-month program).
  • Strong computer skills.
  • CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NextGen is preferred.
  • Bilingual a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with primary care providers as part of the patient care team.
  • Welcome and escort patients from the waiting area to exam rooms.
  • Record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, height, weight, pulse) and input data into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
  • Collect and document patient history, medication lists, hospital/ER visits, and presenting concerns.
  • Perform routine diagnostic tests (Urinalysis, HCG, HGB, blood glucose, urine drug screens, stool cards (FOBT), rapid strep, rapid HIV, rapid flu, lead tests and Hgb A1C according to Tri-County policies, procedures, protocols and standing orders.
  • Perform pre-visit planning and complete Review of Systems (ROS) and History of Present Illness (HPI).
  • Administer Patient Health Questionnaires (PHQ-2, PHQ-9, GAD-7, CAGE) to support behavioral health screening.
  • Ensure clinical areas are clean, stocked, and compliant with infection control protocols.
  • Greet and check-in patients in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and update EMR as needed.
  • Assist with managing patient flow and coordination between front desk and clinical staff.
  • Provide general administrative support to ensure smooth clinic operations.
  • Correctly identify appropriateness of appointment scheduling. Direct emergent needs to nurse team for further triage.
  • Responsible for complete and accurate data entry for all information which includes patient registration, encounter billing information, and changes in insurance information.
  • Assist in answering all incoming calls and taking accurate messages.
  • Confirm, cancel, or reschedule appointments.
  • Assist in scheduling appointments and directing appropriate calls to the nurse triage team.
  • Complete end of day closing reports.
