Southern Cross is hiring for a full-time position that includes surveying natural gas pipelines and the opportunity to travel to other locations around the country driving an Advanced Mobile Leak Detection (AMLD) vehicle. This dual role as a gas leak survey technician and driver requires flexibility to work days and nights as needed. Driving assignments have varied durations (3 days to 6 months) and are primarily completed at night, typically 8 hours per day on a 3rd shift (sundown - early AM). The Field Service Technician will fly or drive to AMLD assignments depending on distance from the home project. Technicians will also be cross-trained in traditional gas leak survey, with assignments having varied durations and primarily completed during the day. Training is typically 4-5 weeks (paid) and involves learning to accurately detect and classify natural gas leaks, walking 5 or more miles per day, and working outdoors in all weather conditions and environments, including vehicular traffic, residential, commercial, and rural areas, and potentially encountering dogs and wildlife.
