Southern Cross is hiring NOW for a full-time position that includes surveying natural gas pipelines along with the opportunity to travel to other locations around the country driving our Advanced Mobile Leak Detection (AMLD) vehicle. In this dual role as a gas leak survey technician and driver we are seeking employees with the flexibility to workdays and nights as needed depending on the role that is assigned. Your PRIMARY role will be as a Gas Leak Survey Technician surveying natural gas pipelines. Your SECONDARY role will be Driving assignments will have varied durations, from 3 days to 6 months and are primarily completed at night. You will receive per diem for meals and approved expenses when traveling, paid travel and hotel. The Field Service Technician will fly or drive to AMLD assignments depending on distance from home project. Some comfort with technology and a willingness to learn in a technical environment is preferred. Gas Leak Survey assignments will have varied durations and are primarily completed during the day. Training is typically 4-5 weeks (paid), learning how to accurately detect and classify natural gas leaks, walking 5 or more miles per day, working outdoors in all weather conditions and environments i.e.: in and around vehicular traffic, residential and commercial environments, rural environments including: tall grass, uneven walking areas, fields, city sidewalks, alley ways and at times encountering dogs and wildlife.
