The ENT Billing Coding Specialist is responsible for filing claims, posting payments, insurance follow-up, pre-authorizations and denials. The Billing Coding Specialist reports directly to the Office Manager.

  • File electronic and paper claims, post payments, insurance follow-up, submit pre-authorizations.
  • Assist the billing department with checking all patient's insurances to ensure that insurances are still active and the patient is eligible for services.
  • Ensure accurate and timely billing.
  • Submit and track authorizations for treatment.
  • Code physician visits/encounters (CPT, HCPCS, and ICD-10) based on supportive chart documentation.
  • Review office, and procedure operative/progress notes and charges for compliance and accuracy.
  • Research and obtain necessary documentation/information from provider/office to ensure accurate, compliant, and timely coding and charge entry.
  • Assist with research for denied claims & appeals; medical coverage policy/medical necessity.
  • Other duties as necessary.
  • High school graduate required.
  • Associate degree preferred.
  • Comprehension of medical terminology.
  • Must have previous coding and billing experience (ENT setting preferred).
  • Must have experience using Windows or NT.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Competency in oral and written skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
